"Andrew Wiggins and I have long loved two things more than anything else - sports and writing. We were both born and raised in Austin, so we grew up huge Longhorn fans. As happens in life, we eventually wound up in different cities, and missed our long sessions talking about the University of Texas athletics. The solution was obvious: start a blog. That was almost two years ago; we haven’t looked back since. After our first year over on Google’s Blogger, we’d built a steady and increasingly growing readership. We wanted to do something more with the site to take it up another level. I knew from reading Athletics Nation and McCovey Chronicles every day that SB Nation was a perfect fit for us. They welcomed us with open arms and it’s been a terrific partnership. They provide tremendous support, and my colleagues are among the best in the blogosphere. SB Nation is terrific about only signing up the best writers out there; we’re honored to be working alongside them." – Peter Bean, blogger at BurntOrangeNation.com, Manager of NCAA blogs for SB Nation, on why he started Burnt Orange Nation and joined the SB Nation network of blogs
Are you still looking for bloggers?
We are still looking for bloggers to write and create communities around teams that we don't yet cover, as well as myriad other sports. We have a long way to go before we meet our goal. If you are interested in becoming an SB Nation blogger and joining the network, you need to have a few key characteristics. You will not be considered unless you meet the criteria, so please only contact us if you're certain you can fulfill our requirements. Our criteria is explained below.
Can I blog for your network?
Prospective bloggers must have a blogging track record for the team or sport they want to write about. We're not concerned with the amount of traffic you have. Rather, we want to see a proven commitment to your team/sport, regular updates and quality writing. What do we consider "quality" writing? We can't describe it, but we know it when we see it. If you're passionate about a team or sport we don't cover, but haven't started blogging yet, we suggest starting out on your own with a free service such as WordPress or Blogger. Put a month or two of effort into it and see if you have the writing talent and the time devotion necessary to be a strong blogger. And if you're ready to make the commitment, contact us and we'll see if we have a roster spot for you.
How do you compensate your bloggers?
A revenue split of advertising spots. And of course you'll be a part of the largest and best independent sports blog network on the Web!
