Now that former New York Giants WR Plaxico Burress is out of prison it's time to take a look at where he'll land. The oddsmakers believe the Philadelphia Eagles are the best shot and their theory wasn't hurt when Burress exited an upstate New York prison on Monday with a Philadelphia Phillies hat on.
That said, Clark Judge of CBSSports.com wrote a story on Tuesday morning citing several reasons why Burress won't be a Bird.
It never happened, and I'd be surprised if anything becomes of this Burress-to-Philadelphia rumor, too. That doesn't mean it's impossible. It just means the odds are against it, and talking to GMs and coaches throughout the league tells me why for three reasons: 1) age, 2) skills and 3) money.
So the Eagles may not be the best fit. What about the New England Patriots? Tom Curran of CSNNE writes that, after the WR Randy Moss experiment, the Patriots may not be looking to Burress.
In the end, though, it won't be about the scar on his leg or the number of times he's been pulled over for windows too tinted that keeps him out of New England. It will be the fact he doesn't bring enough to the table.
We're still in the speculative stages of figuring out where Burress will land so plenty of things can (and probably will) change.
