The Associated Press reports that the New England Patriots have agreed to terms with offensive lineman Matt Light on a two-year deal.
Light would earn up to $12 million, with $7 million guaranteed, the person told The Associated Press on the condition of anonymity because the deal has not been announced.
A Patriots spokesman did not respond to an inquiry about Light. Nick Caserio, the director of player personnel, said Sunday that "conversations are ongoing."
The 33-year-old Light has made the Pro Bowl three times, including in 2010. He plays left tackle, guarding the blind side of quarterback Tom Brady.
Patriots 2011 first-round draft pick Nate Solder might eventually take over for Light, but it looks like that won't happen for another year, at least. The fact that the NFL lockout kept the Pats from working with Solder (who, in fact, still hasn't signed) might have been a factor in their decision to re-sign Light.
Light can begin practicing with the Patriots August 4.
