On Thursday night the New York Jets were believed to be the front-runner in the Nnamdi Asomguha sweepstakes. It got to the point where some were bracing for an announcement out of New York that they've acquired the former Oakland Raiders cornerback.
Well, it now appears that they're OUT of the race for Asomugha -- for now, at least. This according toAlbert Breer of NFL Network.
The Jets and the Dallas Cowboys were reportedly the two teams at the top of the list competing for his services. The Cowboys are conducting training camp in Dallas and reporters who were there noted shortly before Breer's report that Cowboys officials were high-fiving each other.
The Jets were reportedly restructuring a number of contracts and it was believed that they were doing so in order to clear cap room for Asomugha, if they could sign him.
So we're not sure exactly what's going on with Asomugha and his future team but the rumors are flying now.
