David Allen Coe once critiqued a fellow songwriter's attempt to write the perfect country-western song by citing its lack of mamas, trains or drunkenness. Your NFL free agency rumor, likewise, is not the perfect NFL free agency rumor, as it does not include the Washington Redskins, Minnesota Vikings and Donovan McNabb.
Adam Schefter, however, has constructed the perfect rumor. Schefter says the Vikings have inquired about putting together a trade for McNabb. Jason La Canfora adds that the two teams have actually put the "paramaters of a deal" in place, but financials have presented a stumbling block.
Schefter adds that the Vikes are one of "a few teams" to ask about McNabb, but don't spoil this. There are no two teams you'd sooner expect to be involved in this trade. There's no player short of Brett Favre himself more likely to be involved. This is the perfect rumor.
