The Wake Forest men's basketball team has suspended Melvin Tabb and Ty Walker indefinitely for unspecified rules violations. The suspensions were announced by coach Jeff Bzdelik in a school release without further comment. The entire release consisted of three sentences, two of which were biographical in nature.
Tabb averaged 1.6 points and 2.0 rebounds per game, while playing 14 games as a freshman. The 6-foot-8 power forward has had a couple other issues, though, missing several weeks for academic reasons and then being dismissed from the team in February for conduct detrimental to the team.
Walker, who was entering his senior season, had started to emerge as a useful player during his junior year. The 7-foot center averaged 3.5 points and 3.6 rebounds with 2.5 blocks per game. He had been part of former coach Skip Prosser's final recruiting class.
In their first season under Bzdelik, the Demon Deacons went 8-24 overall and 1-15 in ACC play.
