2010 WNBA MVP Lauren Jackson will miss two to three months after having surgery to fix a torn labrum in her hip, the Kitsap Sun reports.
"This is really, really tough decision," Jackson said in a press release regarding her injury. "But after talking with my doctors and my family, we felt that immediate surgery is the best course of action. With something painful like this hip injury, I want to be especially proactive. I plan to stay in Seattle to be here with my team and try my best to be back on the court as soon as possible. My goal is to be at full strength by the end of the season."
Jackson had played five games so far in the 2011 season, but her results were way off - she averaged only 9.2 points and 4.8 rebounds per game after averaging 20.5 points and 8.3 rebounds in 2010. She apparently hurt her hip while playing against Tulsa last Tuesday, although her statistics were down even before that.
The Storm's schedule only runs through September 11, so it appears that Jackson will miss most, if not all, of the rest of the regular season.
