After spending nearly a decade each coaching the UMass Minutemen and Memphis Tigers, is John Calipari ready to settle down for good? Though he's often connected to vacant NBA coaching jobs, along with non-vacant jobs that involve LeBron James, Calipari's new eight-year Kentucky Wildcats contract may keep him in Lexington through the end of his coaching career.
Of course, that's ssuming he'll actually end up retiring in the next decade or so, as he's said he intends to do.
The new deal will average about $4.5 million per year plus incentives -- which means he'll bring home more than most NBA coaches will. With two Elite Eight trips already in two years at UK, including his first-ever Final Four appearance*, it looks like Calipari will be with the Cats well beyond his 500th victory**.
