Pittsburgh Steeler QB Ben Roethlisberger spent a good chunk of the 2010-2011 NFL season playing with a broken foot. The good news for Steelers fans is that the foot is almost healed.
The bad news? He may still need surgery on it at some point.
"I could have had surgery, but according to the doctors it would have been a really nasty process because of where the break was. It was better off trying not to do anything," Roethlisberger told the Tribune-Review on Friday. "It's going to be something where we're just going to have to, in essence, play it by ear. If it continues to be as painful as it was at the end of last year, then I'm going to probably have to have the surgery."
Big Ben is quick to remind that "It's doing really good. It's healed up," so he's heading in the right direction. Perhaps the NFL lockout was a good thing for Ben in the short-term, though we'll know that for sure if and when the decision to have surgery is made.
