Miami Hurricanes RB Storm Johnson will seek opportunity elsewhere, the school announced Tuesday. After a spring that saw backfield mates Mike James and Lamar Miller show out, Johnson may have worried about how much of a role he'll end up with in the team's offense -- plus he was already set to miss the season opener against Maryland for violating team rules.
Last year the Loganville, Georgia freshman produced 119 yards and a touchdown on nine attempts, with the bulk of each of those numbers coming against South Florida.
Coach Al Golden in a statement on Johnson's exit:
As of this afternoon, Westleigh Storm Johnson is no longer a part of the University of Miami Football program. When these situations arise, we always assist the student-athlete and his family in the transfer process. We wish Storm success in all future endeavors.
The transfer has been rumored for a while now.
