Derrick Rose will be named the NBA MVP of the 2010-11 season, according to a report by ESPN's Jon Greenberg. While that's not exactly a surprise, (though maybe it should be!), it's still pretty big news, as he'd be the youngest winner in the award's history. Rose and the Chicago Bulls are a little busy right now, engaged in a playoff series with the Atlanta Hawks.
According to the report, Rose will be officially notified Tuesday morning, and will be presented his prize during a Game 2 ceremony Wednesday.
On the year, Rose averaged 37.4 minutes, 25 points, 7.7 assists and 4.4 rebounds per game. His postseason numbers have fluctuated somewhat, as he's passing less while shooting more with less accuracy (follow along!), he's still the unquestioned leader of the NBA's best team so far this season.
