Gregg Marshall got some attention from a certain increasingly desperate power conference program after leading the Wichita St. Shockers to the 2011 NIT championship. He confirmed on Monday that he'd talked with the N.C. State Wolfpack about their coaching vacancy, but that "it wasn't time to leave."
Earlier in the day VCU announced they'd be hanging on to Shaka Smart. With virtually every other major job filled, N.C. State's options are dwindling to dumping a pallet of money in Brad Stevens' driveway and ... go on? Marshall isn't worried about the Wolfpack, however:
We discussed the job. To discuss a job of that magnitude was flattering. They're going to win there.
Before coming on at Wichita, Marshall ran wild over the Big South Conference at Winthrop, winning either the conference's tournament or regular season title in every year but one. At Wichita he's reached the postseason three out of four years, going 81-55.
