With New York Mets' Spring Training winding down this afternoon against the Florida Marlins, everyone will thankfully shift gears to the regular season.
Opening Day begins with an intra-divisional battle against the Florida Marlins at Sun Life Stadium in Miami, Fla. on Friday. Mike Pelfrey has received the Opening Day start -- and he'll take on the Marlins' talented 27-year-old fireballer, Josh Johnson.
The Mets will play the young Marlins through the weekend, then break on Monday and head up to Philadelphia to face the Phillies for a three-game set beginning Tuesday. The Mets will play their home-opener that Friday, April 8 -- a week from Opening Day -- against the Washington Nationals.
While we don't know what this season will be like, we can always speculate -- and besides games against the Colorado Rockies, Braves and Phillies, the first month of the season will provide a great opportunity for the Mets to get started with some winning baseball -- as they have two matchups against the Nationals, an Arizona Diamondbacks set and a series against the Houston Astros.
