Perry Jones III has been suspended for Wednesday night's Big 12 Tournament game against the Oklahoma Sooners, according to a tweet from KEYE TV's Adam Winkler. Kansas City's 610 Sports reports Jones could be "done at the school for accepting impermissible benefits," though the "TV reports in Dallas" they're citing are likely still KEYE TV. Just say "KEYE TV," guys.
Freshman big man Jones has been Baylor's second-leading scorer and rebounder, averaging 13.9 points and 7.2 boards per game. He's yet to miss a game this season, playing almost 34 minutes every night. In two meetings against the Sooners, he's averaged 22 points and seven rebounds.
As an unlikely NCAA Tournament selection, Baylor would have to make serious Big 12 noise to continue its postseason. Without Jones on board, that would be a far greater challenge.
