If the playoff dreams are real for the New Jersey Devils, they have to be for the New York Islanders too, right? Jack Capuano's rag tag group of misfits won yet another game on Monday afternoon, toppling the Florida Panthers by a final of 5-1.
The Isles are just one point behind the Devils in the East and they're almost as hot -- winners of seven of their last ten games. Okay, so the reality is that neither team will likely make the postseason. There's just not enough season left and too many teams to catapult over before reaching the 8th spot in the conference.
Just don't tell Matt Moulson. He scored three goals yesterday, including two in the first period, to propel the Islanders. Al Montoya -- yes, Al Montoya -- made 20 saves in the New York crease. Tomas Vokoun was good as usual but unable to stop the Islanders ouslaught. Man, that just sounds funny to say, doesn't it?
It's true, though. The New York Islanders are becoming a goal scoring machine. They've scored at least three goals in nine straight games now.
