It's been 12 years since Dave Meggett lined up to return a kick in the NFL but the former star return man for the Giants, Patriots and Jets won't be stepping on the field any time soon.
According to multiple reports, Meggett has been sentenced to 30 years in prison for criminal sexual misconduct and burglary in South Carolina. Allegedly in January 2009, Meggett and a college student had some sort of sexual encounter, which Meggett later claimed was consensual and they had an argument later in the night in question. Meggett didn't take the stand but his public defender says he will appeal.
Unfortunately this isn't the first time Meggett has been involved with allegations of this nature. In 1998 and 2006 there have been allegations of sexual assault. Then there's the September 2008 incident in which a woman claims Meggett forced her to have sex with him. He still faces charges in that case.
Meggett was a 1989 draft pick of the Giants where he excelled as a return man in the NFL. He was a two-time Pro Bowler in 1989 and 1996.
