It's been quite a season for the Dolphins and their defensive line.
DE Phillip Merling was charged with felony battery. Nose tackle Jason Ferguson surprisingly retired.
And now Merling appears to be done for the season. First reported by Pro Football Talk and now by the Miami Herald, Merling suffered an Achilles' injury that will reportedly keep him out for the season.
A source close to Merling said the report is correct and that he was told that Merling is expected to miss the season. However, the team nor Merling has yet to confirm the injury. The source said Merling tore the Achilles' during a football workout.
If he's missing the year, then the injury is likely a torn Achilles, which is somewhat common among season-ending injuries.
The Dolphins haven't commented on the injury. It's important to note that the report states it came from a football workout. There was some speculation that it came during an non-football workout which could potentially give the Dolphins a chance to recover some money from him.
