Horrible timing, thy name is Carlos Dunlap. Florida's best defensive end and surefire NFL prospect was pulled over at 3:30 a.m. Tuesday morning -- the week of the SEC Championship Game -- and not in the kind of condition you would hope to find your prize pass-rusher:
Gainesville police spokesman Keith Kameg said officers saw a red 2000 Chrysler stopped at a green light at about 3:25 a.m. on a street near the Florida campus. Officers watched several light cycles before approaching the car. Inside the car, they found the 6-foot-6, 290-pound Dunlap slumped behind the wheel. The driver appeared to be asleep, Kameg said. The vehicle was on and in gear.
Dunlap refused the breathalyzer test, was taken to jail and booked for suspicion of driving under the influence after performing poorly on a field sobriety test. No comment from Florida thus far, though knowing Urban Meyer the punishment will be grudgingly and sparingly administered.
