Ladies and gentlemen, the Miami Hurricanes are once again a national story. Love'm or hate'm, and it's much more likely that you hate'm, they make things more interesting. Miami blog The 7th Floor has taken notice that the Hurricanes have, somehow, become darlings of the college football world. We'll see how long this lasts.
2-0 Miami has arguably the best on-the-field resume of any team in the nation right now. They'll go a long way towards confirming that beyond a shadow of a doubt if they can go into Blacksburg and defeat the Hokies on Saturday. VT (2-1) is coming off an emotional last-second win over Nebraska last week. Whether or not they have anything left in the tank between that game and the Alabama loss remains to be seen.
Not only is this a pivotal match-up for both teams but it's also a crucial game for the ACC and it's bid to rebuild its reputation on the fly. The conference has been banking on Virginia Tech recently to carry the torch. However, we could be witnessing the passing of the torch come Saturday if the Hurricanes can make a statement.
The ACC will also be looking to the North Carolina-Georgia Tech, FSU-USF and TCU-Clemson games to see if the conference can repair its image overall.
