Kobe Bryant and Pau Gasol scored 19 and 17 points respectively as the L.A. Lakers beat the Memphis Grizzlies 93-84 on Monday. L.A.'s defense was lovely, holding Memphis below 40 percent from the floor and refusing to foul much. The Grizzlies had just 17 free throw attempts, with Zach Randolph and Rudy Gay earning four each.
Despite all the Grizzlies' misses, L.A. did a fairly good job keeping Z-Bo and Marc Gasol off of the offensive glass. Randolph is the league's best offensive rebounder among regular players, and he had three o-boards in 40 minutes. He also shot just 2-14 and had four turnovers. It wasn't a great night for Zach Randolph.
It also wasn't the best night for Ron Artest, who got jacked in the nose by Marc. Kevin Ding of the Orange County Register reports that Pau lingered around Ron-Ron to make sure his teammate didn't seek retribution against his brother.
