It wasn't pretty, or exciting, or all that impressive. But Jacksonville got a win in a soggy season opener against Denver.
David Garrard threw for three touchdowns against the injury-racked Denver defense, and Maurice Jones-Drew added 98 rushing yards in the Jaguars' 24-17 win. Jaguars linebacker Daryl Smith intercepted Kyle Orton, who was trying to rally the Broncos in the last two minutes of a season opener for the second straight year, to preserve the victory.
Neither of Denver's two quarterbacks was stellar on this day. Orton completed 21 of 33 passes for 295 yards, one touchdown and one interception, and his much-ballyhooed backup, Tim Tebow, gained just two yards in spot duty with Denver's "Wild Horse" formation.
