The 2010 season has been unkind to Red Sox outfielder Mike Cameron. The athletic 37 year old missed a month of the year with an abdominal tear early on. In the middle of July, he got hit in the wrist by a Brandon Morrow fastball. And recently, he's been dealing with continued soreness in his abdomen - soreness that has forced him back on the DL:
Red Sox placed OF Mike Cameron on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to July 31, with a strained abdominal muscle.
Daniel Nava's coming back to take Cameron's place on the roster. Cameron's numbers this year are as low as they've been in more than a decade, but given all the various aches and pains through which he's suffered, it's understandable, and at this point it's everyone's hope that he's just able to avoid having surgery and possibly come back late in the year. Still under contract for $7.25m in 2011, the Red Sox have little reason to take chances with Cameron's health.
