SBN's Bruins blog, Stanley Cup of Chowder, has the story from a wild final few seconds at HSBC Arena on Friday night in Game 5 between Boston and Buffalo:
Things got a little heated in the closing moments of the game. In the final seconds of the game, Paul Gaustad slashed the back of Zdeno Chara's leg. Chara was naturally angered by the unnecessary hack away from the play in the closing seconds of a 4-1 hockey game and went after Gaustad and sent off a scrum that resulted in 55 total penalty minutes, including a fight instigator for Chara. A fight instigator in the final 5 minutes of a game carries an automatic one-game suspension, but the league can overturn the suspension. Darren Dreger of the TSN.ca is reporting that Chara will not be suspended for Game 6.
Buffalo won the game, 4-1, to keep their season alive.
