If the Donovan McNabb were a Sesame Street episode, it would be brought to us by the letters W, T, and F. Here are some reactions from both sides of the trade, starting with the Eagles fans at Bleeding Green Nation. See if you can find a common theme:
Unbelievable. Surreal, really. It’ll be extremely weird to see him in that uniform.

Out of all the places McNabb could of went him going to the Redskins of all teams is really REALLY shocking.
But I’ll try to withhold judgement of this trade until I see what happens in the draft.

Of all the rumored teams, I thought this one had no shot. Perplexing.

Over at Hogs Haven, the Skins fans have deemed this trade a "great move," but only by a small plurality; as of right now, only 59% of respondents have a positive view of the trade. Here, the individual opinions are as varied as the poll results:
But I strongly dislike this move. I don’t at all think the gap between Jason Campbell and Donovan McNabb is great enough to spend a 2nd rounder + 3rd/4th next year. And even if it is, what’s the point? It’s not like we’re going to contend this year, so upgrading our QB when we have a perfectly serviceable one in-house doesn’t make sense, especially not at the cost of a 2nd rounder. This is a crazy thought, but why not use that 2nd rounder on a young player (ie not 33 like McNabb) who will help for years to come, instead of just this year and maybe next. Dumb, dumb move.

I hope Skins fans embrace him. Great move. I’m on the bandwagon.

McNabb is a tough QB, but our line, even with a rookie tackle, will make McNabb more prone to getting hurt. I just can’t seeing him lasting long behind this line.

And in my mind a great acquistion, but my problem is 1) Not dealing Campbell first, because his value goes down since other teams know we have to trade him. 2) I don’t know if a 2nd was worth it for an old quarterback… McNabb isn’t showing any decline yet, but he is here with 1 year left on his current deal, and how easy would it be for him to leave after 1 year?
McNabb is a great quarterback, I just feel like we could have done a lot with that 2nd rounder. Regardless, in Shanallen I trust.
