Another day and yet another report on the future of Donovan McNabb as the Eagles quarterback. This time around, it's Jason Cole of Yahoo! Sports who reports if McNabb had a say in the matter, he'd be a Cardinal.
According to two people close to McNabb, the Pro Bowl Philadelphia Eagles quarterback has his sights set on one day playing for the Arizona Cardinals. McNabb, who has made his offseason home in Phoenix, hoped that day would come this season if Philly indeed sends him packing.
Cole reports the Cardinals were one of the teams that inquired about McNabb before acquiring QB Derek Anderson in free agency.
The Cardinals have apparently made their decision choosing to go with Anderson and QB Matt Leinart heading into the season.
However, as Cole points out, McNabb may be a better long-term solution than Leinart. Most think he has 3-4 good seasons left in him. Leinart, on the other hand, hasn't done much at all in the NFL and he could be due over $12 million in 2011, in addition to a hefty $5.5 million bonus due in the opening days of the 2011 league year.
While the Cardinals say they're not interested, reading the tea leaves McNabb in Arizona makes a lot of sense.
